Some history:  In 2004, SWCC expedited themselves to County Line Park... in lovely Wahkiakum County (about 5 miles east of Cathlamet, WA.  SWCC won first prize on the WWDX Club's Salmon Run (aka Washington State QSO Party) Contest - Expedition catagory.

In 2005, SWCC returned downstream to County Line Park.  Someone asked, "What's so attractive about this place?".  Mad Dog answered, "That's simple... Lewis and Clark slept here in 1803".  Enough said.  Please enjoy the photos.

Nice view looking west from County Line Park QTH.

The "brackish" water vertical is the orange fiberglass pole. The shorter pole supports the coax above sea level when the tide comes in.

100 ft of RG-8X was used to connect to the vertical antenna to the shack. Look closely to see the feedline going overhead to the shack.

Another view of the brackish water vertical antenna.

Close up view of the brackish water vertical.

Note the abundant use of duct tape. The four radials were made from enameled magnet wire.

Rich, KR7W, uses an antenna analyzer to adjust the 5 KW Heathkit tuner.

The rig was set for 50 watts on CW to the tuner which fed a multi band doublet fed with TV twin lead. This proven set up worked well inside of the VW Eurovan. It was reported that Lewis and Clark had a bad hair day at this location on their journey to the Pacific Ocean.

Roddney, WV7Oh, operates one of SWCC's Icom 7800s in the 20 meter SSB Shack.

This rig feeds the Brackish Water Vertical antenna.

Chuck, AC7QN, operates the 7800 in the 20 meter shack.

Alan, W7AML, takes advantage of the sunny WX on Sunday. The second 7800 was set up outside to operate 80 meter SSB.

Rich, KR7W, operates the third 7800 on 20 meter CW in the VW van shack.

20 M CW never interfered with 20 M SSB while operating simultaneously. Those 7800 receiver front ends are quite amazing.

El Jefe (Nick), K7MO, operates the VW Van station on 40 Phone. Jefe had quite the "net"

going on... making sure each station contacted the county they needed.

As Woody Guthrie sang, "Roll on Columbia, Roll On".... and so it does. Nice place to sail your boat.

Gary, WG7X, operates 75 meter SSB from the Chrysler Mini Van... aka the Command Van.

Adam "Fireball", KD7TQX, operates the 20 meter SSB Station.

Salmon Run 2004 award granted to SWCC WW7LW for it's huge score

2005's effort was less of a score than 2004. In a double secret probation meeting... the low score was blamed on not enough quality beer. A member was overheard saying, "This Pabst Blue Ribbon *&%%$ don't cut it for contesting. Better beer is on the slate for next year.
