Web Page Purpose:
None, really.
Radio KR7W has three physical areas of operation. The workshop (or ARL),
the Ham Shack, and the Acme Carpentry Shop.
This page will attempt to show some of what goes on in the Acme Research Lab
part of the big picture.
Why Acme? As a kid... I enjoyed the Coyote attempting to capture the
Road Runner. The Coyote used products from Acme, which usually didn't
work out quite right. Most of the products (AKA projects) I build
usually go into the trash bucket after spending too much time on them.
Some products explode just like the Coyote experienced. But once in a
Blue Moon the Coyote does catch the Roadrunner, so to speak.

Laugh all you want...
above shows the current electronic workbench area. The foto is
organized like a road map:
1A = Old Zenith Trans Oceanic Shortwave radio, ca 1946
2A = Another old Zenith AM / Police / SW entertainment radio, ca pre WW2
3A = Misc Zenith and Motorola AM entertainment radios, ca 1953-1956
4A = The top of a Dewalt scroll saw
2B = Test Equipment (the impressive signal generator is missing)
3B = Better life thru chemistry: cleaning supplies, glues, contact cleaners,
lubes, etc
4B = UPDATE:An old National Radio Corp Shortwave receiver that belonged to Pat's
grandfather. It is restored except for the dial cord needs restrung. Behind
that is an old Silvertone radio chassis from 1938 that I took apart and cant
figure out how to get it back together and
have it work (at the same time). The radio's carcass (console cabinet)
resides in our dining room and someday will be complete... maybe.
1C = Misc parts: Most drawers are empty cuz I don't enjoy putting
stuff away
2C = More test equipment: Variable AC / DC power supply, Audio Generator,
VTVM, AC isolation transformer
3 & 4C = The blue item: an old Admiral AC/DC portable AM radio being
restored.
1D = Clip leads hanging from above... mixed in with wood working clamps
3D = Very nice and helpful Tek O'scope
3E = Tool chest with most tools not put in the drawers. Takes time to be
organized... and organization is evolutionary.
Note 1: The National SWL receiver dial cord has been re-strung thanks
to Steve, AD7VL.
Note 2: The bench has changed as of Mar 7, 2010... a new indexed foto will
show up sometime soon.
Note 3: The Silvertone is put back together with its
Magic Eye Tube glowing green and is working
very well in our dining room.
Note 4: 1C, parts drawers are now utilized for restoration parts...
elec. caps, old style components, and more.
Note 5: 3&4C, the blue Admiral has been restored and given to WV7O so
he can listen to be basaball game in his new kitchen.
Note 6: The lovely Red Craftsman tool chest has been removed from this
purpose and is FOR SALE for $30.00 (a/o 11/5/2011)
